Durabase Walks on Water!

Terrafirma helps out EAE once again when they were faced with a submerged tower which required maintenance. Exactly how to undertake this maintenance with the utmost safety of engineers in mind was causing some concern until Terrafirma came up with a solution - Durabase has a honeycomb of air pockets and is therefore extremely boyant and completely sealed! Click here to see some fasinating pictures depicting how a puzzling problem was once again dealt with cost effectively by Terrafirma.
Electricity Alliance East

The challenge for Terrafirma Roadways was to develop a safe way of working without using a truck mounted crane that could encroach the safety zone. They relished the opportunity to show their engineering superiority to overcome their customers’ predicament. Hugh Robertson and his team developed the Terra Multi Grab (TMG). Viridor Waste Management

Terrafirma Roadways has enjoyed a business relationship with Viridor (formerly Thames Waste Management), for around 6 years. To read more about how the Terrafirma Roadways team helped with Viridor's site access problems click here.
ANOTHER TRIUMPH FOR TERRAFIRMA
Yet another challenge was presented to Terrafirma when the Electricity Alliance West asked them to connect two towers situated at Hams Hall, near Birmingham, a site of Special Scientific Interest.
The base of one of the towers was completely submerged in water with the other in a protected reed bed. The reed bed presented something of a conundrum, as it could not be damaged in any way, so in consultation with The Environment Agency, the crew made the decision to lay a 20m stretch of Dura-Base, 3 mats wide, with another panel laid over the top to spread the weight bearing load across the whole width. This enabled the truck to drive safely over the reed bed and access the tower. In total the Terrafirma crew laid approximately 900m of Dura-Base providing the temporary pontoon.
Both the Electricity Alliance West and The Environment Agency were delighted with the result, once the work was completed safely and the pontoon retrieved, as there had been no compromise and the area was left exactly as it had been before work commenced.
